I need a print book or a copy of an article that isn't available in the NTC Library catalog. Can you obtain it for me through Interlibrary Loan?

Answer

One of the many library services available to NTC students, staff and faculty is Interlibrary Loan. Interlibrary Loan is also known as ILL.

Interlibrary Loan allows NTC Library to borrow items we do not own from another library that is willing to lend them.  You may obtain books, DVDs, magazine/journal articles, and other materials through ILL.

Please note:

  • A current NTC ID must be presented in order to borrow all library materials, including ILL items.
  • Allow at least 1-2 weeks for shipment of physical books/DVDs.
  • Article requests are often filled in 1 week or less.
  • Textbooks may not be requested through ILL.
  • Books and DVDs that have been published within the last 6 months may not be requested through ILL.
  • There is no charge to borrow an item through Interlibrary Loan. However, borrowers who do not return ILL items or return damaged items will be charged replacement charges determined by the lending library.
  • Use the links on the ILL page to select the appropriate item type. Fill out one ILL request per title/article needed.
  • Special log-in instructionsType “N” before your ID number.
