How can I improve my search results on a research topic?

We can use different words to answer the same question. You may say "bubbler" and I may say "drinking fountain" - while we are referring to the same thing. The same is true with research articles. Finding the best terminology that is most commonly used (e.g. on a national or global basis) may mean skimming entries for vocabulary terms.
